Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Max Scherzer stated on Wednesday that he intends to announce his future plans for the 2027 season in the coming days. Following his start against the Baltimore Orioles, the 42-year-old revealed his desire to pitch on short rest in Sunday's regular-season finale against the Cincinnati Reds at Rogers Centre.

Wednesday's appearance marked the 500th outing of Scherzer's career, bringing his season ERA to 6.14 through 77.2 innings. Scherzer currently trails rival Justin Verlander by four strikeouts for eighth place on Major League Baseball's all-time strikeout list.
