West Ham snub ages terribly – £7m flop ‘gambled and lost’ rejecting Nuno

West Ham United attempted to sign Morocco international Anass Salah-Eddine from AS Roma at the beginning of September. After Salah-Eddine rejected the move to fight for his spot in Italy, West Ham instead completed loan signings with option-to-buy clauses for Morato and Adama Boiro from Nottingham Forest and Athletic Club respectively.

Following the transfer window, Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini excluded Salah-Eddine from the club's Champions League squad. Facing a lack of playing time, the defender subsequently agreed to join Greek club Panathinaikos, having also passed on a permanent £7 million transfer option to PSV Eindhoven.
