I ripped up my Stoke City transfer plans when Jurgen Klopp wanted to meet me

Andy Robertson revealed he was on the verge of completing a permanent transfer to Stoke City in the summer of 2017 before Liverpool intervened. Speaking on The Overlap's Stick to Football podcast, the Scottish left-back explained that Liverpool's chief scout called his agent during a meeting to finalize terms with Mark Hughes' side, stating that manager Jurgen Klopp wanted to meet him directly.

Following the call, Robertson scrapped the potential move to Stoke and met Klopp at his house. Liverpool subsequently completed a £10 million permanent transfer with Hull City, bringing Robertson to Anfield in the same window they signed Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.
