Why Lions WR Isaac TeSlaa has limited targets, and when that will change

Detroit Lions wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa has recorded just two catches on six targets through the team's first two games. On Wednesday, Lions associate head coach and wide receivers coach Scottie Montgomery explained that the limited opportunities stem from Detroit's offensive depth, which features primary passing targets Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Sam LaPorta, and Jahmyr Gibbs.

Montgomery noted that opposing defenses have allowed quarterback Jared Goff to connect frequently with his initial progressions. However, the Lions anticipate coverages shifting against upcoming opponents like Aaron Glenn's New York Jets, creating higher-leverage situations for TeSlaa on third downs, fourth downs, and in the red zone.
