Chelsea learn €55m summer sale has made a ‘dull’ start to the new season

Former Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella has reportedly made a "dull" start to his career at Real Madrid after completing a €55 million summer transfer. The 28-year-old Spain international joined the Spanish giants in June but is already facing pressure following a series of disappointing performances. Journalist Joel Guerrero highlighted Cucurella's struggles in his first eight appearances across La Liga and the Champions League, particularly during a recent 2-1 defeat against Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, Alvaro Carreras has excelled at left-back for Jose Mourinho's side, putting further pressure on Cucurella. To replace Cucurella, Chelsea signed Spanish left-back Pep Chavarria from Rayo Vallecano for €19 million in August. Chavarria has made seven appearances for the Blues under manager Xabi Alonso, where he competes for playing time with Netherlands international Jorrel Hato.
