Former defensive coordinator Robert Saleh has revealed that the San Francisco 49ers missed out on drafting running back Cam Skattebo in the 2025 NFL Draft. Head coach Kyle Shanahan reportedly loved Skattebo, but the New York Giants selected him with the No. 105 overall pick in the fourth round, just before the 49ers could pick him at No. 113.
After missing out on Skattebo, the 49ers selected defensive tackle CJ West at No. 113 overall. They later drafted running back Jordan James in the fifth round of the same draft. Skattebo has since become a starter for the Giants, while James has played in four games for San Francisco.
