Specsavers pair blew £35,000 of company cash on sport jollies… including £9,722 for 25 double rooms

Scottish Specsavers opticians Emma Foster and George Kelly have been suspended by the General Optical Council following their dismissal for gross misconduct. The pair misused company funds by claiming tens of thousands of pounds in personal expenses for high-end sporting events between March 2020 and September 2024.

The inappropriate expenditures included tickets for a Six Nations rugby match, British Grand Prix hospitality, Premier League soccer, and an NFL game in London. Following a disciplinary hearing, Foster received a 12-month suspension while Kelly was suspended for three months.
