Andy Carroll reveals sexual assault prior to West Brom move in new autobiography

Former England striker Andy Carroll revealed in his autobiography, 'Owning It', that he was the victim of a sexual assault in 2021 while playing for Newcastle United. The incident occurred at his home prior to his January 2022 move to West Bromwich Albion. Carroll testified in court against the male attacker, who denied the charge but was subsequently convicted and sentenced to three years in prison.

The perpetrator was also placed on the National Sex Offender Register and barred from Carroll's village. Carroll stated that he deliberated with partner Lou Teasdale before including the traumatic experience in his book, hoping that sharing his story would help other victims.
