Revisiting the Panthers’ trade for Patric Hörnqvist

The Florida Panthers acquired two-time Stanley Cup champion Patric Hornqvist from the Pittsburgh Penguins six years ago. In exchange for the veteran forward, the Panthers traded defenseman Mike Matheson and forward Colton Sceviour. Hornqvist brought experienced leadership to Florida ahead of the team's eventual run to the 2023 Stanley Cup Final.

Hornqvist was originally selected 230th overall by the Nashville Predators in the 2007 NHL Draft. He later joined Pittsburgh alongside Nick Spaling in a 2014 trade for James Neal, winning consecutive Stanley Cup titles with the Penguins.
