Josh Jung Gives Rangers New Life In AL West Race

Josh Jung hit a two-run homer in the first inning to lead the Texas Rangers to a 3-1 victory over the New York Mets on Thursday at Globe Life Field. Corey Seager added a solo home run in the sixth inning, while Kumar Rocker started for Texas. The victory snapped a three-game losing streak and moved the Rangers to a 79-80 record, putting them a half-game ahead of the Houston Astros in the AL West.

Jung finished 3-for-3 with a walk, single, double, and home run, coming a triple shy of the cycle. Zac Thornton took the loss for the Mets after giving up two runs over five innings. Carson Benge drove in Francisco Lindor earlier in the first inning for New York's only run.
