Even if the sun is shining when Washington welcomes the Seattle Seahawks in their home opener on Sunday afternoon, Commanders fans will feel like a dark cloud is hovering over Landover, Md.
The Washington Commanders will host the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday without starting quarterback Jayden Daniels, who suffered a dislocated left elbow in a 37-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. With Daniels sidelined, veteran Marcus Mariota will step in as the starter for the 0-2 Commanders as they face the reigning Super Bowl champion Seahawks.
Seattle enters the matchup 2-0 and could see starting quarterback Sam Darnold return from a glute injury. Backup Drew Lock previously threw three touchdowns to Jaxon Smith-Njigba in a 31-7 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, supported by a Seahawks defense allowing just 8.5 points per game.
