Alex DeBrincat did it all for the Red Wings in their third preseason contest, picking up a fighting major and later scoring the overtime game-winner against Buffalo.
Alex DeBrincat led the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-2 overtime preseason victory against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday evening. DeBrincat scored the game-winning power-play goal just 33 seconds into overtime, after previously engaging in a third-period fight with Buffalo forward Trevor Kuntar.
Kuntar opened the scoring for Buffalo before Axel Sandin-Pellikka answered on the power play for Detroit. Following a second-period goal by Buffalo's Jiri Kulich, Detroit's Sheldon Dries tied the contest in the third period. Daniil Tarasov stopped 17 of 19 shots for Detroit, while Buffalo split goaltending duties between Alex Lyon and Colton Ellis.
