Despite Ball expressing gratitude for his career achievements without mentioning an intention to step away, a social media post claiming his retirement gained over one million views.

Ball, 28, has played seven seasons across nine years in the league after missing two full campaigns due to multiple knee procedures. He spent last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers before being traded to and subsequently waived by the Utah Jazz prior to the trade deadline.
