Rob Pelinka Says LeBron James’ Lakers Exit Was ‘Done Amicably’

Los Angeles Lakers president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka stated on Thursday that LeBron James' offseason departure from the franchise was completed amicably and professionally. Speaking alongside head coach JJ Redick at a season-opening news conference, Pelinka expressed gratitude for James' tenure. This marked Pelinka's first public comments regarding the split since James agreed to a two-year, $8 million free-agent contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Agent Rich Paul informed the Lakers of the decision just hours before free agency opened on June 30. While Redick praised the fit of Los Angeles' updated roster, James has maintained minimal public remarks about his exit. James is scheduled to release a podcast addressing the transition on Friday before speaking at Philadelphia's media day on Monday.
