Penguins shut out by Blue Jackets in preseason meeting

The Pittsburgh Penguins were shut out 4-0 by the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Playing their first road contest of the preseason with a roster composed primarily of prospects and reserves, Pittsburgh was held to just 13 shots on goal.

Zach Werenski opened the scoring for Columbus in the first period, followed by second-period goals from Valeri Nichushkin and former Penguin Danton Heinen. Kirill Marchenko sealed the win with an empty-net goal in the third period. Blue Jackets goaltender Cam Talbot earned the shutout, while Penguins goaltender Sergei Murashov made 12 saves on 15 shots in the loss.
