Penguins cut 12 more players

The Pittsburgh Penguins reduced their training camp roster on Thursday by sending down 12 players. Among the moves, goaltender Taylor Gauthier was assigned to the AHL affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton after successfully clearing waivers. The transactions help supply players for Wilkes-Barre's upcoming preseason game on Friday as the team continues to trim its roster ahead of the regular season.

The cuts followed a 4-0 preseason loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Penguins have one remaining preseason game scheduled for Saturday in Buffalo before opening their regular season on Wednesday in Philadelphia. The franchise must eventually reduce the active camp roster to 23 healthy players.
