‘He told me he didn’t like to play as a No. 9’ – Rodri admits he’s been surprised by Raphinha at Barcelona

Barcelona midfielder Rodri revealed that forward Raphinha has surprised him the most at the club after successfully adapting to a new role. Speaking to Cope, Rodri explained that the Brazilian originally said he did not want to play as a No. 9, but has since excelled in the central attacking position.

Raphinha took on the position following the summer departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres, scoring 14 goals across all competitions. Rodri also expressed surprise that neither Raphinha nor Pedri was included on the shortlist for the Ballon d'Or.
