Premier Sports host lifts lid on Martin O’Neill after controversial TNT Sports interview

Premier Sports host Emma Dodds has defended Celtic manager Martin O'Neill following a tense pre-match interview with TNT Sports reporter Connie McLaughlin. Ahead of Celtic's match against Ferencvaros, O'Neill bristled when asked why goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo replaced Sam Johnstone in the starting lineup. Dodds noted that O'Neill was likely feeling pressure following a 3-0 defeat against Rangers at Ibrox four days earlier.

Following a subsequent 3-1 loss to Ferencvaros at Parkhead, O'Neill addressed the interview exchange directly. He admitted that he can become a bit tetchy when answering questions and sometimes needs to apologize, while noting that managers should not have to justify every selection decision immediately before kickoff.
