MLB’s youngest manager has exceeded expectations. So why can’t he be happy?

At 34 years old, Blake Butera became the youngest Major League Baseball manager hired in over half a century. In his first season leading the Washington Nationals, the club stayed in wild-card contention through July and won 75 games, marking their highest win total since winning the World Series in 2019.

Despite exceeding expectations and significantly improving their run differential, Butera expressed frustration over the team's second-half collapse and 84 losses. The manager emphasized to The Athletic that rebuilding does not excuse blowing leads, holding his young roster to high competitive standards.
