Seven lost Tyneside football grounds in Newcastle, Gateshead, North Shields and South Shields

Early clubs previously gathered crowds at these sites, including Newcastle United precursors in Byker and Heaton during the late 19th century, before major modern developments altered the local sporting landscape.

Between 1919 and 1930, South Shields AFC played at the 25,000-capacity Horsley Hill Stadium in Division Two, defeating teams like Manchester United and Chelsea. Following persistent financial troubles and player sales, the club relocated to Gateshead in 1930, where the team subsequently played at Redheugh Park for over 40 years.
