Hendrickson’s debut took 2 decades and an international odyssey to achieve

Houston Astros left-handed pitcher Josh Hendrickson made his Major League debut at age 29 on Wednesday night against the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park. Hendrickson entered in relief of starter Ethan Pecko during the third inning of a 6-5 loss, pitching two innings while allowing one run, two hits, and striking out three batters.

Hendrickson's journey began in Perth, Australia, before moving to the United States to play junior college baseball at Ranger College in Texas and Barton County Junior College in Kansas. With his wife Lizzie and daughter Hazel in attendance, Hendrickson became the ninth player to make his debut for the Astros in 2026.
