A shaky third period and special teams struggles spoiled the Ducks' final dress rehearsal, overshadowing a dominant fourth-line performance as injuries continue to plague the opening-night roster.
The Anaheim Ducks concluded their 2026 preseason on Saturday afternoon with a 6-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. Both teams dressed near opening-night lineups, but the Kings pulled away in the third period with the help of two power-play goals. Ducks goaltender Lukas Dostal allowed six goals on 20 shots, while Kings goaltender Darcy Kuemper stopped 17 of 19 shots.
Anaheim dealt with several lineup absences, including injuries to Ian Moore, AJ Greer, and Drew Helleson, as well as Pavel Mintyukov being sidelined due to illness. Ducks head coach Joel Quenneville noted that while the team lost momentum late, the game allowed the staff to experiment with line combinations ahead of the regular season opener.
