Barcelos ‘stable’ in hospital after losing consciousness in UFC defeat

Raoni Barcelos was hospitalized overnight after losing consciousness in the fifth round of his main event fight against Raul Rosas Jr at UFC Vegas 121 in Las Vegas. The 39-year-old collapsed after a takedown 1:38 into the final round and was carried out on a stretcher to a Level 1 trauma center. Rosas Jr was awarded the stoppage victory.

The UFC released a statement confirming that Barcelos is stable, alert, responsive, and retaining full movement following a CT scan and comprehensive assessment. Prior to the stoppage, Barcelos led on all scorecards in an intense bout where both fighters landed over 300 strikes, earning Fight of the Night honors.
