Former UFC rival Chael Sonnen praised retired fighter Jon Jones for his coaching abilities and mentorship. Jones, who retired from MMA competition in 2025, has been serving as a coach for UFC heavyweight prospect Gable Steveson. Steveson recently suffered a defeat against Sean Sharaf at UFC 331, prompting Jones to quickly escort him out of the octagon.

Sonnen stated to MMA Junkie that he was impressed by Jones' seminar and ability to relay information. He commended Jones for protecting his fighter and taking public criticism, describing Jones as sensitive and responsible in his post-fighting coaching role.
