Wrexham boss left red-faced over West Ham dig after £35m star’s new claim

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson previously criticized West Ham United's financial power following a 6-0 defeat against the east London club. Parkinson argued that the financial disparity created an uneven playing field in the Championship, especially after West Ham paid £22m for Arne Engels from Celtic. However, Lyon midfielder Pavel Sulc recently revealed that Wrexham had a £35m bid accepted for him during the summer transfer window.

Sulc stated that he rejected the permanent transfer because he did not want to move to Wales or compete in the Championship. The revelation drew scrutiny toward Parkinson's comments, given that Wrexham's starting lineup against West Ham cost over £80m to assemble and their proposed bid for Sulc exceeded West Ham's record summer outlay.
