Leicester City told £297m deal comes with conditions before extra money ‘can flow’

The Premier League has presented a 10-year 'New Deal' proposal to the EFL that would significantly increase solidarity payments to clubs including Leicester City. The offer pledges an additional £81 million during the current season and an extra £163 million annually by the 2028-29 campaign, more than doubling existing payouts.

The proposed financial boost is contingent on EFL clubs agreeing to new cost-control rules and reducing Carabao Cup semi-finals to single-leg matches. While clubs have been warned that relying on the Independent Football Regulator could delay an agreement by up to two years, EFL teams are expected to submit feedback before upcoming meetings.
