Celtic attacker Yang is facing a race against time to prove his fitness ahead of South Korea's Asian Games semi-final clash with China. Yang has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since South Korea's 4-1 opening win over Qatar on September 15, subsequently missing victories against Saudi Arabia and Vietnam. The winger described the issue as minor and confirmed he is targeting a return for the decisive tournament stages.
China advanced to face South Korea on September 30 in Osaka after defeating Thailand 3-0 in their quarter-final. Winning a gold medal carries significant importance for Yang, as it would grant him an exemption from mandatory military service in South Korea. If Yang misses the semi-final, he could still feature in either the gold or bronze medal match scheduled for October 3.
