The Story in 60 Seconds

New polling published by Ipsos for the Independent Football Regulator highlights that British football supporters prioritize club heritage and engagement over on-field success. The survey of 1,904 fans revealed that 87 percent value supporter engagement, matchday traditions, and stadium location, compared to 83 percent who prioritized on-field success. These findings align with ongoing criticism directed toward Celtic interim chairman Brian Wilson and the Parkhead board regarding fan disconnect.

In response to mounting pressure, Celtic launched the Celtic Connect platform in July, but the Celtic Fans Collective criticized the initiative for lacking democratic representation. Collective representatives met with Celtic officials on September 22 to present a Fan Advisory Board proposal, following months of scrutiny over commitments made by chief executive Michael Nicholson.
