Cleveland Guardians veteran catcher Austin Hedges delivered an emotional message to fans following the team's third consecutive American League Central title clinch on Saturday night in Kansas City. Cleveland secured the division crown after the Chicago White Sox were officially defeated by the Colorado Rockies. Celebrating in the clubhouse, Hedges expressed his affection for the city, shouting that he loves Cleveland with all his heart.
The clinch marked Hedges' fourth AL Central title with Cleveland and secured his fifth postseason trip with the organization. Managed by Stephen Vogt, the Guardians will open the American League Division Series at Progressive Field on October 3. Hedges has contributed significantly this season, batting .249 with six home runs, 25 RBIs, and a .708 OPS.
