71 players hit NHL waivers in massive Sunday cutdown ahead of Opening Night roster deadline

Twenty-two NHL teams placed a combined 71 players on waivers on Sunday ahead of the league's Opening Night roster submission deadline. Clubs have until 2 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday to make waiver claims, with official Opening Night rosters due three hours later at 5 p.m. Eastern Time.

Notable players placed on waivers include Henri Jokiharju, Colin Blackwell, Sam Lafferty, Nick Perbix, and Ilya Lyubushkin. Eleven goaltenders were also made available, including Ilya Samsonov, Vitek Vanecek, and Laurent Brossoit. From Saturday's waiver list, the St. Louis Blues claimed Justin Barron and the New Jersey Devils claimed Remi Poirier.
