PITTSBURGH — Mike McCarthy got a game ball for his first win as the Pittsburgh Steelers head coach for beating…

The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 30-27 in Week 3 to open AFC North play. Head coach and offensive playcaller Mike McCarthy earned credit for orchestrating key personnel and schematic adjustments after the team scored just 16 combined offensive points over the first two weeks.
McCarthy inserted Brock Hoffman and rookie Max Iheanachor into the starting offensive line, helping Pittsburgh produce a season-high 411 yards of offense. Additionally, the offense showed schematic creativity on the opening play, using tight ends Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington in a full house backfield to spring running back Jaylen Warren for a 30-yard gain from quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
