Canucks place goaltender Nikita Tolopilo on NHL waivers

The Vancouver Canucks placed goaltender Nikita Tolopilo on NHL waivers on Sunday, September 27. If Tolopilo clears waivers on Monday, September 28, he is set to report to the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks. Tolopilo was the only player Vancouver waived on Sunday ahead of the league's roster deadline.

The decision comes after the Canucks claimed 24-year-old goaltender Leevi Meriläinen on waivers on Friday. Tolopilo, 26, appeared in 21 games for Vancouver last season and lost both of his preseason starts this year, conceding six goals on 44 shots.
