Free agent running back Austin Ekeler is expected to re-sign with the Washington Commanders to their 53-man roster, pending a physical. Ekeler recently worked out for the Carolina Panthers after recovering from an Achilles tear, but Carolina opted not to sign him.
The Panthers had explored adding Ekeler following a core muscle injury to Jonathon Brooks, who was placed on injured reserve. Carolina's current running back depth chart features Chuba Hubbard, AJ Dillon, and Anthony Tyus.
