Speaking on the Ironcast podcast, Koppen stated that he aligned quickly with Kretinsky and board member Jiri Svarc regarding squad plans, expressing total confidence in the ownership's backing.

Despite generating roughly £200 million in player sales and spending around £40 million on replacements, West Ham made Celtic's Arne Engels the Championship's record signing for £22 million. The club also completed loan deals for Joel Piroe, Morato, Adama Boiro, and Divine Mukasa.
