Former Celtic striker Adam Idah was reportedly subjected to alleged monkey chants from sections of the Israeli support during the Republic of Ireland's 3-0 victory against Israel at the Nagyerdei Stadium in Debrecen. Midfielder Jayson Molumby alerted referee Harm Osmers and fourth official Florian Exner to listen, but UEFA's anti-racism protocol was not activated because racism was not explicitly stated and officials did not hear the chants. Troy Parrott, Idah, and Jack Moylan scored for Ireland.
Ahead of the controversial fixture, goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu withdrew from the match in opposition to military actions in Gaza, while the remaining squad decided by a 14-8 vote to play. Irish players wore black armbands, bowed their heads during Israel's anthem, and skipped pre-match handshakes. The Football Association of Ireland is currently reviewing footage to gather evidence and demand a formal UEFA investigation.
