Celtic winger Yang Hyun-jun is expected to be in contention for South Korea's Asian Games semifinal against China on September 30 in Osaka. The 24-year-old has been recovering from a minor hamstring problem sustained after the opening 4-1 victory over Qatar on September 15. After sitting out victories against Saudi Arabia and Vietnam, Yang confirmed he has targeted the semifinal and final for his return.
Yang is participating as an over-age player for South Korea, who are aiming to secure a fourth consecutive Asian Games gold medal. Winning the tournament on October 3 would also provide Yang an exemption from conventional mandatory military service. While no formal medical clearance has been announced, his condition has steadily improved during South Korea's knockout run.
