Cleveland Guardians left-hander Parker Messick concluded an elite rookie regular season after pitching three innings and allowing one run against the Kansas City Royals. The performance served as his final tune-up before the postseason, where he is expected to start Game 1 or Game 2 against either the Chicago White Sox or Houston Astros.

Messick ended the 2026 campaign with a 12-9 record, a 2.56 ERA, and 193 strikeouts across 186.1 innings. His ERA and strikeout totals place him alongside Christy Mathewson, Russ Ford, and Hideo Nomo as the only rookie pitchers since 1901 to post such numbers in a single season.
