Pochettino laments Man City verdict, struggles to find just punishment for ‘period of deception’

United States men's national team manager Mauricio Pochettino stated that Manchester City being found guilty of 114 financial charges represents a "period of deception" in Premier League history. Speaking on Monday ahead of a friendly against Chile in St. Louis, the former Tottenham manager questioned what punishment would be considered just and questioned the effectiveness of Premier League regulatory controls.

Pochettino contrasted City's situation with the strict financial restrictions he experienced at Tottenham, noting his squad went 18 months without transfers while building a stadium. He previously argued that his 2016-17 Tottenham team should be awarded that season's Premier League title following separate rule violations by champions Chelsea.
