West Ham chief Nils Koppen admits failing to sign ‘best player in the league’

West Ham United head of player recruitment Nils Koppen revealed that the club signed winger Manor Solomon from Tottenham Hotspur for a cut-price fee of £5 million. Speaking on the Ironcast podcast, Koppen explained that he had previously tried and failed to sign the Israeli international during earlier tenures at previous clubs before successfully securing him for West Ham.

Koppen noted that both Solomon and fellow summer signing Joel Piroe previously demonstrated Championship-winning quality together at Leeds United. Solomon has started seven of West Ham's eight Championship games this season, contributing three goal involvements across his last two appearances.
