Aston Villa have named Emi Buendía as the club's September Goal of the Month winner for his long-range strike against Tottenham Hotspur. The Argentine midfielder curled his effort into the top corner on September 19, securing Villa's third goal in a 3–2 away victory in north London that marked their first Premier League win of the season.
Johan Manzambi and Nicolas Jackson scored Villa's earlier goals before Tottenham responded twice. Both Buendía and Jackson were also nominated for the official Premier League Goal of the Month award for their strikes in the fixture, which is run separately from Villa's internal club honor.
