Matthew Boyd will start Game 1 for the Cubs. Everything else is TBD.

The Chicago Cubs will start left-hander Matthew Boyd in Game 1 of their Wild Card Series against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. Manager Craig Counsell made the decision as pitcher Kevin Gausman continues to deal with a lingering left shoulder injury. Boyd will face Padres starting pitcher Michael King on Tuesday.

Gausman is expected to make the series roster but was not deemed ready to start Game 1 after injuring his non-throwing shoulder last week. Additionally, pitcher Edward Cabrera will not be included on the 26-man roster after being placed on the family medical emergency list.
