Mallorca player rushed to hospital with ‘serious head injury’ after training ground incident

Mallorca goalkeeper Ivan "Pichu" Cuellar was rushed to the hospital on Monday after suffering a serious head injury at the club's training ground. The incident occurred at the Ciutat Esportiva Antonio Asensio ahead of a training session when a large structure forming part of the dining room decor collapsed on him. The club announced that the 42-year-old would remain hospitalized under observation for 24 hours.

Cuellar has served as Mallorca's backup goalkeeper for the past three years. His injury leaves the team with limited senior goalkeeping options, as regular starter Arnau Tenas is slated to start their upcoming match against Girona, while fellow goalkeeper Lucas Bergstrom is away on international duty with Finland.
