After three years in Japan, the 32-year-old is in line to wear the black jersey again.
Shannon Frizell has returned to the All Blacks fold, providing head coach Dave Rennie an experienced option for the team's long-contested No 6 jersey. After spending time playing in Japan with Toshiba Brave Lupus alongside teammate Richie Mo'unga, the 32-year-old blindside flanker rejoined New Zealand rugby via Tasman in the NPC ahead of international selection.
Rennie noted that Frizell is gaining match fitness and physically impacting games, with plans to give him more playing time to build his conditioning. The All Blacks have cycled through numerous players at blindside flanker since Jerome Kaino's retirement in 2017, with Frizell now working to secure the position once again.
