West Ham United completed a £12 million permanent transfer for Norway Under-21 international Edvin Austbo from Viking FK. Director of Player Recruitment Nils Koppen revealed that the deal was heavily influenced by a home defeat to Charlton Athletic, where West Ham struggled to break down a low block despite holding 78 percent possession.

Koppen explained that Austbo was identified through event-based and game-based statistics for his ability to unlock defensive teams in tight spaces. Since joining the club, the winger has already registered a goal and an assist as a substitute in a 3-0 victory against Derby County.
