It’s been most of a year since we last saw Payton Talbott inside the Octagon. Back in December, Talbott picked up one of the most impressive wins of his young career by dominating Henry Cejudo in the former champion’s retirement…

Payton Talbott revealed that discussions for a potential matchup against Sean O’Malley fell apart due to an alleged broken foot. Talbott stated on his YouTube channel that multiple proposed bouts repeatedly collapsed under claims of foot injuries before he finally secured a fight against Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 331 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The 28-year-old bantamweight had been sidelined since defeating former champion Henry Cejudo at UFC 323 in December 2025. Talbott noted that several fighters who reportedly cited broken feet later accepted other bouts, questioning whether the matchmaking issues were caused by the UFC or opponents avoiding him.
