McCants claimed that James chose a safe option to avoid media scrutiny following Draymond Green's comments explaining why James avoided signing with Golden State.
Green noted that past Finals rivalries factored into James' decision. James also expressed interest in the New York Knicks before choosing Philadelphia, where he joined Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Jaylen Brown.
