Elias, Albernaz discuss Henderson’s injury, dealing with Oriole owners, pitching, 2027

Baltimore Orioles president of baseball operations Mike Elias and manager Craig Albernaz met with the media on Monday to evaluate the 2026 season. Both leaders addressed shortstop Gunnar Henderson playing through a sore right wrist during the campaign without being placed on the injured list. Elias praised Henderson for remaining on the field all season while acknowledging the team has faced significant injury challenges over the last two years.

Albernaz detailed that Henderson worked extensively in the training room and adjusted by switching to an ax handle bat late in the season. Despite battling the wrist ailment, Henderson finished the season with 24 home runs and an OPS above .700. Elias also shared insights into collaborating with the team's ownership group, including David Rubenstein and Michael Arougheti.
