Courtney Meppen-Walter: Ex-Manchester City player and killer driver, 32, dies suddenly

Former Manchester City and Bury FC footballer Courtney Meppen-Walter has died suddenly at the age of 32. Bury FC announced his passing on Tuesday, issuing a statement offering condolences to his family and friends. Meppen-Walter, a former England under-18 international from Heywood, also had stints playing for Carlisle United, Stockport County, and several non-league clubs.

In February 2013, Meppen-Walter was convicted of causing death by careless driving following a September 2012 car crash in Cheetham Hill that killed siblings Kulwant Singh and Ravel Kaur. He was sentenced to 16 months in prison and released after serving four months before eventually resuming his football career across regional clubs.
