Among the defensemen, Simon Benoit was projected to register one goal after failing to score in 73 appearances for Toronto the previous season. Meanwhile, blueliner David Jiricek was predicted to score six goals, while Helge Grans was noted as a likely candidate to spend significant time in the American Hockey League.
