Venezuelan international Ronald Hernandez reflected on his challenging spell with Aberdeen, stating he still wonders how his career might have progressed under different circumstances. The right-back joined the Scottish club from Stabaek in 2020 for a substantial six-figure fee but struggled to adapt before the season was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now playing for the Portland Timbers, Hernandez explained that arriving during his off-season made adjusting to the physical Scottish Premiership difficult. He was coached by Derek McInnes and faced off-field hardships when pandemic travel restrictions separated him from his family in Venezuela, though teammate Funso Ojo provided support.
